Il sostantivo draft ha diversi significati, tra cui “bozza”, “tratta” o “leva, chiamata alle armi”: a first draft, una prima bozza; draft board, commissione di leva. Anche draught ha vari significati, oltre al basilare “tiro”, “trazione”: draught animals, animali da tiro; draught beer, birra alla spina. Questi due sostantivi che si pronunciano allo stesso modo nell'inglese britannico si scrivono, appunto, in modo diverso, mentre nell'inglese americano invece si scrivono entrambi draft.
